Huntington weather every day!

Remembering the Valentine’s Day Storm of 2007

Our front yard on February 15th, 2007. That's a four-foot snowstake just on the right...

I wanted to post a supplement so that we could take off our hats, bow our heads and remember the Valentine’s Day Storm of 2007.

Here in Huntington we had 12″ of snow on the ground on February 13th (and a low of -17!). The Nor’easter that boomed up the Atlantic coast began dumping snow on us overnight on the 13th giving us 7.5″ of new snow by daybreak on the 14th. The storm kept delivering all day though and by the next morning we had an additional 20.5″ of new snow and 39″ at the stake (which is a record for as long as I’ve been keeping track here…) That winter continued for quite sometime and we weren’t snow free here until April 19!
