Forecast Discussion:

We’ve got a fairly pleasant day on tap for today. Valley fog should to burn off by midmorning with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 80s expected. By this afternoon, convection should go to work with some scattered pop-up showers and thunderstorms possible. A weak shortwave will lift through the region tonight keeping the chance of showers overnight. After a dry start to the day Sunday, more rain returns. Low pressure moving out of the Great Lakes Sunday night and a moisture-laden warm front lifting from the south into the region Sunday night into Monday will combine to bring widespread heavy rains and thunderstorms. Showers should move into Vermont Sunday afternoon and persist through Monday. There’s quite a lot of moisture in this system, so flash flooding will be a concern once again. Stay tuned…

About Today’s Photo:

Another high summer flower—milkweed—is blooming in our front field in Huntington. These complex compound flower heads are a haven for pollinators as well as the primary source of food for monarch butterflies. A good crop of milkweed is a good thing to see!
