Paper thin Fargo Brook ice...

Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 10:00AM it’s currently 33 degrees and snowing lightly under overcast skies. Winds are calm. Relative humidity is 76%, dewpoint 26, barometric pressure 29.77″ and rising. We’ve picked up just a dusting of snow and have 3″ on the ground. 24hr high was 34, low 33.

Forecast:

A weak low pressure trough is currently moving through the area bringing us overcast skies with snow showers this morning. Weak high pressure will follow later in the day bringing mostly cloudy skies with a chance of snow. Highs will be around 37°F with winds from the South at 10-15 mph. Chance of snow is 50%. Tonight should be partly cloudy and seasonably cool with lows of 10°F and light winds.

Wednesday should be partly cloudy in the morning, then mostly cloudy. Highs will be around 32°F with winds from the NE at 5 mph. Wednesday night should be mostly cloudy in the evening, then overcast with a chance of snow. Lows will be around 23°F with winds from the SSE at 5 mph shifting to the ENE after midnight. Chance of snow is 60%.

A complex low approaches from the Mississippi Valley on Thursday bringing us some “more interesting” weather. We should see overcast skies with a mixed bag of precipitation. Highs will be around of 32°F with winds from the East at 10-15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%, and there’s a decent chance that we might get some usable snow out of this event. Thursday night should be overcast with a chance of snow in the evening. Lows will be around 23°F with winds from the ESE at 5-10 mph. Chance of snow is 20%. This storm system should spill over into Friday. We’ll just have to see what we get…
