Huntington weather every day!

One more from a series taken the other day. I particularly like the spiral nature of the frost crystals as they twist up the twig.

Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 7:30AM it’s currently 21 degrees and snizzling lightly under overcast skies. Winds are out of the west at 2-4 mph. Relative humidity is 91%, dewpoint 19, barometric pressure 29.82″ and falling. We picked up 0.5″ of light snow overnight and have 3″ at the stake. 24hr high was 40, low 21.

Forecast:

Cold arctic will flow into the region today bringing snow showers and dropping temperatures. We’ll see overcast skies with snow showers, then a chance of snow in the afternoon. Highs will top out this morning in the mid-20s and drop through the day. Winds will be from the NNE at 5-10 mph. Chance of snow is 60% with accumulations of a dusting to 2″ at higher elevations. Tonight should be mostly cloudy with snow showers. Lows will be around 1°F with a windchill of -20°F. Winds will be from the NNW at 5-10 mph. Chance of snow is 20%.

Cold air will be reenforced by another arctic shot on Sunday bringing us mostly cloudy skies with snow showers. Highs will only reach the mid-teens with winds from the WNW at 5-20 mph. Windchill will be in the range of -15 to -20 so bundle up if you’re going out! Chance of snow is 20%. Sunday night should be partly cloudy and cold with lows of 0°F and winds from the West at 5-10 mph.

Monday’s looking mostly cloudy in the morning, then partly cloudy. Highs will be around 19°F with winds from the West at 5-10 mph. Monday night should be partly cloudy in the evening, then clear. Lows will be around 18°F with winds from the SSW at 5-10 mph.

The longer term forecast calls for a warming trend with, you guessed it, unseasonably warm temperatures through most of the upcoming week.
