Morning Observation:

Snow! Yeah!

This morning in Huntington at 7:35AM it’s currently 10 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Some fine, light snow is falling. Relative humidity is 88%, dewpoint 7, barometric pressure 29.81″ and rising rapidly. We picked up 6.5″ of light, fluffy snow over a layer of sleet along with 0.03″ of rain that fell yesterday before the transition to snow. 24hr high was 41, low 10.

Forecast:

High pressure and much colder temperatures will move into the region today to dominate the weekend weather. Today we’ll see mostly cloudy skies with a chance of snow in the morning, then partly cloudy skies later in the day. Highs will be around 16°F with winds from the SW at 5-15 mph shifting to the NW in the afternoon. Chance of snow is 20%. Tonight should bring partly cloudy skies with low of -15°F and light winds.

Sunday’s looking partly cloudy with highs of 14°F and light winds. Sunday night should be partly cloudy in the evening, then clear. Low will drop to -6°F with winds from the NNE at 5-10 mph shifting to the SE after midnight.

Monday’s looking overcast with highs of 28°F and winds from the SW at 5-15 mph. Monday night should be overcast with a chance of snow after midnight. Lows will be around 25°F with winds from the SSW at 5-15 mph. Chance of snow is 20%.

Longer term forecasts call for a warm up Tuesday with a similar situation that we saw Friday and yesterday. There’s the possibility of some decent snow Tuesday night. Stay tuned!
