This morning in Huntington at 7:15AM it’s currently 36 degrees and raining lightly under overcast skies. Winds are calm. Another low pressure system will move northeastward from the Central Plains states and will bring heavier rains to the region Thursday and Friday. The combination of rain and snow melt may result in minor flooding late Thursday night and Friday on some area rivers and streams.

We’ll see cloudy skies with a 30% chance of rain showers today. Highs will be in the mid 40s with south winds around 10 mph, becoming southwesterly this afternoon. Tonight should be cloudy with a 30% chance of rain after midnight. Lows will be in the mid 30s with light and variable winds, becoming southeast around 10 mph after midnight.

I came across this paper birch while skiing over the weekend up at Camel’s Hump Nordic The fleshy color really seemed to pop against the grey back of other hardwoods and the white of the snow.
