A view of the beach on PEI where we spent a week.

We’re back from an extended vacation up to the Canadian Maritimes—a lovely trip to PEI, New Brunswick, and a bit of Nova Scotia.

Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 8:00AM it’s currently 66 degrees under cloudy skies. Winds are calm. Relative humidity is 97%, dewpoint 64, barometric pressure 29.94”. We picked up 0.27” of rain overnight. Yesterday’s high was 74, and the overnight low was 64.

Forecast:

A slow moving trough of low pressure will continue to deliver unsettled weather into Monday as it drags a weak cold front across the region. We should see a period of drying this afternoon before showers pop up later this evening into Monday.

We’ll see cloudy skies today with a 50% chance of showers and a chance of thunderstorms mainly in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 70s with southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Tonight should be partly cloudy until midnight, then becoming cloudy with a 50% chance of showers and a chance of thunderstorms mainly until midnight. Lows will be in the lower 60s with light and variable winds.

Monday should be cloudy with a 50% chance of showers. Highs will be in the mid 70s with light and variable winds. Monday night should be mostly clear with a 30% chance of showers. Lows will be in the upper 50s with light and variable winds.

Tuesday’s looking partly sunny with highs in the mid 70s. Tuesday night should be mostly clear with lows in the lower 50s.

We spent a week in a cozy cottage on the northern shore of Prince Edward Island in the Canadian Maritimes. This is the view looking east along our beach near sunset. PEI is made up mostly of red sandstone, so the beaches, dirt roads, and farm fields all sport a distinctive red color.
