A juvenile hummingbird feeds at the bee balm by the pond

Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 7:40AM it’s currently 70 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Winds are calm. Relative humidity is 99%, dewpoint 70, barometric pressure 29.64”. We picked up 0.11” of rain overnight. Yesterday’s high was 85, and the overnight low was 66.

A slow moving cold front currently moving through the Adirondacks will pass through the region by mid-day bringing a renewed chance of showers and thunderstorms to the region. Once the front passes, cooler and more comfortable conditions will dominate as high pressure builds in for the upcoming week.

We’ll see partly sunny skies with a slight chance of showers this morning, then isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 70s with southwest winds around 10 mph, becoming northwesterly this afternoon. Chance of rain is 20%. Tonight should be partly cloudy with isolated showers until midnight, then mostly clear after midnight. Lows will be in the upper 50s with northwest winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain is 20%.

Sunday should be partly sunny with a chance of showers mainly in the afternoon as a weak upper level trough slides through kicking off some convective shower activity. Highs will be in the mid 70s with light and variable winds, becoming northwesterly around 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain is 30%. Sunday night should be partly cloudy with a 30% chance of lingering showers. Lows will be in the mid 50s with west winds around 10 mph.

Monday’s looking sunny with highs in the upper 70s and west winds 10 to 15 mph. Monday night should be clear with lows in the mid 50s.

About Today’s Photo:

Another shot from the other day’s hummingbird session. This juvenile was one of the several family members zipping about in the bee balm patch by the pond. It’s quite the challenge to get a good shot of one of these critters as they feed as they never stop moving!
