Bright poppies blooming in our back garden

Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 7:25AM it’s currently a cool 51 degrees under overcast skies. Winds are calm. Relative humidity is 96%, dewpoint 50, barometric pressure 29.52” and rising slowly. We picked up 0.37” of rain in the past 24hrs, most of it in a quick downpour at around 7:00PM last evening. Yesterday’s high was 72, and the overnight low was 51.

Forecast:

We’ve got a string of unseasonably cool and unsettled days on tap courtesy of a slow moving low pressure system that is currently centered to the east of James Bay. It will deliver clouds, occasional showers and even a few mountain snowflakes tonight.

We’ll see mostly cloudy skies today with a 40% chance of showers. Highs will be in the upper 50s with northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Tonight showers are likely, mainly until midnight. Lows will be in the lower 40s with northwest winds 15 to 20 mph gusting up to 30 mph. Chance of rain is 70%.

Thursday should be cloudy with a 50% chance of rain showers. Highs will be in the mid 50s with northwest winds 15 to 20 mph gusting up to 35 mph. Thursday night should be cloudy with a 40% chance of showers. Lows will be in the mid 40s with northwest winds 10 to 15 mph gusting up to 30 mph.

Friday’s looking mostly cloudy with highs around 60 and northwest winds around 10 mph. Friday night should be partly cloudy with lows in the upper 40s.

Although last evening’s downpour did a number on most of the poppies in our back garden, I did take a few photos while the sun was shining. Nothing quite matches the intensity of the crimson these flowers sport!
