Yesterday evening as I was preparing dinner, I noticed a larger-than-usual bird out near the feeders. Sure enough, this merlin was on the prowl trying to catch a smaller bird that was hiding in the rose bush. Grabbing my camera, I hastily got this shot through the kitchen window.
