Shadows, light, and water in Huntington Gorge

Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 6:50AM it’s currently 40 degrees and raining steadily under overcast skies. Winds are calm. Relative humidity is 96%, dewpoint 39, barometric pressure 29.66”. We picked up 0.16” of rain overnight. Yesterday’s high was 42, and the overnight low was 38.

Forecast:

Low pressure currently centered just north of Lake Ontario will move northeastward during the day today bringing rain to much of the region during the day. Some freezing rain and mixed precipitation will occur east of the Greens and in the NEK this morning before changing over to all rain as warm air moves in aloft. A cold front will follow through on the backside of the low later today, and high pressure will build in for the weekend.

We’ll see cloudy skies with rain likely mainly this morning. Highs will be in the upper 40s with south winds 15 to 20 mph gusting up to 30 mph, then becoming westerly 10 to 15 mph this afternoon. Chance of rain is 90%. Tonight should be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain or snow showers until midnight, then partly cloudy after midnight. Lows will be in the lower 20s with northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday should be sunny with highs in the mid 40s and light and variable winds. Saturday night should be mostly clear with lows in the lower 30s and light and variable winds.

Sunday’s looking partly sunny with highs in the lower 50s and south winds around 10 mph. Low pressure will head in our direction from the Great Lake on Sunday night bringing partly cloudy skies with a 40% chance of rain. Lows will be in the upper 30s.
