A sensitive fern seed head pops above the snow

Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 8:25AM it’s currently 20 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Winds are calm. Relative humidity is 89%, dewpoint 17, barometric pressure 29.87” and rising. We picked up 0.18” of rain yesterday. Snowpack is down to a crusty 1” at the stake. Yesterday’s high was 37, and the overnight low was 20.

Forecast:

A brief ridge of high pressure will deliver a dry and seasonable day today before an upper level low approaching from the Great Lakes region brings a period of widespread light snow to the region tonight and into Monday morning with snow accumulations generally 2″ to 4″.

We’ll see partly sunny skies today with highs in the mid 20s and west winds 10 to 15 mph. Tonight light is snow likely as the aforementioned low moves in. We should see snow accumulations of 2″ to 4″ overnight with higher amounts possible at higher elevations. Lows will be around 15 with light and variable winds, becoming northwesterly around 10 mph after midnight. Chance of snow is 70%.

Monday should be cloudy with continued light snow likely, mainly in the morning. We may see total snow accumulations from this system of 3″ to 5″. Highs will be around 17 with west winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow is 60%. Cold air will move in behind the departing low on Monday night with mostly cloudy skies and lows around 4 above and west winds 10 to 15 mph gusting up to 30 mph.

Tuesday’s looking mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of snow showers. Highs will be around 15 with northwest winds 10 to 15 mph gusting up to 30 mph. Tuesday night should be mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of snow showers. Lows will be around 10 above.
