Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 6:45AM it’s currently a balmy 67 degrees and raining lightly under overcast skies. Winds are out of the south at 0-3 mph. Relative humidity is 93%, dewpoint 65, barometric pressure 29.77” and falling. We picked up 0.21” of rain overnight. Yesterday’s high was a splendid 81, and the overnight low was 65.

Forecast:

A slow moving low centered over Lake Ontario this morning will pull an occluded front over the region today bringing plenty of rain. The rain may be heavy at times, dropping between 1″ and 2″ before wrapping up tomorrow morning. It’ll be continued breezy unseasonably mild as well with highs in the lower 70s and southeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain is near 100%. Rain will continue into tonight. Lows will be in the upper 50s with south winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain is 90%.

Friday should be mostly cloudy with a chance of lingering showers mainly in the morning. Highs will be in the mid 60s with southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain is 40%. Friday night should be mostly cloudy with lows in the lower 50s and south winds 10 to 15 mph.

Another mid-level trough and attendant cold front will move through the region Saturday bringing more showers. Highs will be in the lower 60s with south winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain is 70%. Saturday night showers are likely with the possibility of some snow in the mountains. It will be much cooler with lows will be in the upper 30s. Chance of rain is 60%.

Even on a cloudy day like yesterday, the colors on the hillside above the Towers Farm in Richmond pop! This is one of my favorite hillsides in the area offing beautiful colors every year. That corn should be chopped any day now…
