Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 6:40AM it’s currently a balmy and breezy 67 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Winds are out of the south at 1-5 mph. Relative humidity is 83%, dewpoint 62, barometric pressure 29.98”. Yesterday’s high was 77, and the overnight low was 66.


A large area of low pressure centered this morning across the Ohio and mid-Mississippi River valleys will continue its slow northeastward progression eventually moving through our region later Thursday into Friday. In the meantime, we’ll continue to see gusty southerly winds and unseasonable warmth with high temperatures well into the 70s again today. We’ll see partly sunny skies today with a slight chance of showers west this afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 70s with south winds 15 to 20 mph gusting up to 30 mph. Chance of rain is 20%. Tonight should be cloudy with rain likely mainly after midnight. Lows will be in the mid 60s with southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain is 70%.

The aforementioned low will arrive in earnest Thursday bringing rain which may be heavy at times. Highs will be in the lower 70s with southeast winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain is near 100%. Rain will continue into Thursday night with lows in the upper 50s and south winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain is 90%.

Rain will taper off Friday during the day with highs in the mid 60s and southwest winds 10 to 15 mph gusting up to 25 mph. Chance of rain is 70%. There’s quite a bit of moisture in this system with a good 1″ to 2″ expected before it wraps up. Highest totals should be along the eastern slopes of the Green. Friday night should be partly cloudy with lows in the lower 50s.


Last year on this date we had a high of 65 and a low of 44.
