Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 7:05AM it’s currently 28 degrees under overcasts skies. Winds are out of the west at 0-3 mph. Relative humidity is 81%, dewpoint 23, barometric pressure 30.07″ and falling rapidly. We have 2.5″ of hard, crusty snow at the stake, but our south-facing front field is pretty much bare.

Morning radar imagery shows a band of snow showers falling just to our south. We’ll see a bit of that later in the day, but not much I’m afraid…

Forecast:

Low pressure currently passing just to our south will deliver cloudy skies with a chance of snow this afternoon. Highs will be around 30 with south winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow is 50% with accumulations of maybe an inch in our area and higher totals further south. Tonight should be cloudy with a chance of snow until midnight, then a chance of snow showers after midnight. Lows will be in the lower 20s with southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow is 40%.

Thursday should be partly sunny with a chance of snow showers in the morning out ahead of an Arctic cold front dropping down from Canada, then sunny in the afternoon. Highs will top out early in the lower 20s, falling to around 5 above in the afternoon. Winds will be out of the northwest at 15 to 20 mph. Chance of snow is 40%. Thursday night should be partly cloudy and much colder with lows around -11 and northwest winds around 10 mph. Wind chill values could be as low as -22!

Friday’s looking partly sunny and chilly with highs around 12 and west winds around 10 mph. Friday night  should be cloudy with lows around 10 above.
