Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 6:15AM it’s currently a damp 64 degrees under overcast skies. Winds are calm. Relative humidity is 99%, dewpoint 64, barometric pressure 29.84″. We picked up 0.60″ of rain in the past 24hrs. 24hr high was 84, low 64.

Morning radar imagery shows numerous showers extending from Maryland through Pennsylvania and New York and moving towards the northeast. We’ll be seeing those throughout the day today.

Forecast:

We’re in for a wet and unsettled weekend. A closed upper low pressure system extending from Ohio up into Maine will park over the northeast and funnel warm, moist air along with numerous showers and thunderstorms into the region through Saturday. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall on the order of 1.75-2″ today. Highs will be in the upper 70s with south winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain is 70%. Tonight we’ll see more showers and thunderstorms and patchy fog. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall. Lows will be in the mid 60s with southeast winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain is 70%.

Showers and thunderstorms will persist into Saturday with some thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall. Highs will be around 80 with light and variable winds, becoming southerly around 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain is 60%. Saturday night should be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and scattered thunderstorms. More heavy rainfall is possible. Lows will be in the lower 60s with south winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain is 50%.

Sunday’s looking mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of showers. Highs will be in the lower 80s with south winds around 10 mph and gusting up to 25 mph. Drier air should move in Sunday night with mostly cloudy skies and lows around 60.
