From the "Here's hoping..." department: rimed hardwoods up at Mad River Glen last week.

Morning Observation:

This morning in Huntington at 6:35AM it’s currently 18 degrees under clear skies. Winds are calm. Relative humidity is 94%, dewpoint 18, barometric pressure 30.23″ and steady. We’ve got a crusty 2.75″ of snow at the stake. 24hr high was 33, low 19.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for our area from 7PM tonight to 10AM Friday morning.

Forecast:

High pressure is sliding out of the area this morning. We’ll see clear skies this morning and partly cloudy skies later in the day. Highs will be around 36°F with light winds. Tonight should become overcast with a chance of snow in the evening and ice pellets after midnight as a potent low pressure system moves in from the south bringing with it a good slug of moisture and, ummm, unseasonably warm temperatures. Overnight lows will be around 32°F with winds from the South at 5-10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. The type and amount of precipitation is questionable at this time, but higher elevations may see snow accumulations of 2″ with the potential of some icing as well. Tomorrow morning might look messy…

Friday’s looking overcast with rain in the morning, then mostly cloudy with rain showers. Highs will top out at around 48°F with winds from the SSW at 5-10 mph. Chance of rain is 80% with rainfall amounts near 0.3″ possible. Friday night should be partly cloudy with lows of 19°F and winds from the WNW at 10-15 mph as the low moves out.

Saturday should be mostly cloudy with a chance of snow. Highs will be around of 37°F with winds from the West at 5-10 mph. Chance of snow is 20%. Saturday night should be partly cloudy in the evening, then clear. Lows will be around 16°F with winds from the WSW at 10-15 mph.
